What Would You Say?
In the wake of his father’s dementia diagnosis, “What Would You Say?” captures the moment lifelong musician Joshua Hill discovers his father, Greg, could still express himself through music — catalyzing a multi-year father-son musical collaboration.
“What Would You Say?” gives a glimpse into the origin of the Hill family’s journey with dementia, including Joshua’s DIY attempts to capture Greg on camera before he lost his memory, and interviews with Joshua’s mother Mo Russell, Greg’s primary caregiver.
Premiered as part of New Village Arts’ Saving Stories, a California Humanities Funded Project with support from Anthony Golden and Aletha Barthell. Original song improvised by Greg Hill and Joshua Hill.
All other instrumentation composed and performed by Joshua Hill.
